It all started last December when The Stranger announced that both Exohxo and Pillow Army were auctioning songs in the 2010 Strangercrombie auction. Later that month, Danny and Tim met backstage at the Seattle Rock Orchestra Christmas Spectacular and the boasting began.

“Pillow Army is going to raise more money”
“No, Exohxo is going to raise the most”
“You are a short person”
“Oh yeah, well you skipped a measure during your solo, dumb ass!”

Being men of modern times, they took their differences to the internet where, surprisingly, things got less civil. To catch up on the flame war, read the previous post.

Pillow Army won that battle, but not by much, and now Exohxo is demanding satisfaction. They are taking the fight from the virtual battlefield to the stage as these two heavyweights go head to head on March 3rd at Neumos to decide whether Chamber Pop or Chamber Rock will prevail. Pillow Army needs your help to out number all the nerds and grandmothers that flock to every Exohxo show. We need to you chant “Pillow!” “Army!” as Exohxo tries to hypnotize you with their “somnolent nerd pop.” (1) Opening the show and acting as referees are local bands Smile Brigade, who create Zombie-esque pop music that is simultaneously dark and fun, and Fan Fiction which features Pillow Army’s Paul Culala on drums and Sky Cries Mary’s Will Bernhard on guitar:

The Strangercrombie auction is over and so is our battle with Exohxo.  The final tally is Exohxo – $208.50, Pillow Army – $248.01! Thanks to Exohxo, Megan Seling, Paul Constant, and all the fans who contributed to the flame war. Last year a similar song auction raised $100, but the added publicity from our fight helped us each raise over $200 and a combined $456.51 for charity!  Plus, we both beat Interpol’s autographed guitar auction! THOSE LOSERS!
